The Company Bad Plan

Our Bad Plan sets out our values, our desired future, how we hope to achieve that future, and how we’ll know we’re on the right track.

VALUES:

Company Bad values:

  • Shared experiences

  • Love & Friendship

  • Accessibility

  • Queerness & ambiguity

  • Process

DESIRED FUTURE:

A world where we unite to express our humanity and savagery, our commonalities and differences, our joy and sadness, our han and jong.

A world where people are valued, heard, loved, and have hope.

OBJECTIVES:

To work towards our desired future, we’ll aim for:

  • Aesthetic enrichment to be experienced

  • Diversity of cultural expression to be appreciated

  • Social differences to be bridged

  • Feeling valued to be experienced

  • Agency and voice to be enabled

  • Positive future to be inspired

IMPACT:

We will observe the impact of our work, and measure the outcomes, to see if we’re on the right track towards our desired future.

THE COMPANY BAD WAY

Our way of achieving our outcomes, and moving towards our desired future, is to:

  • interweave cultures and art forms in performance, creating new aesthetics

  • creating multilingual processes and experiences

  • rely on spontaneity, surprise, humour, human connection, and DIY effects rather than conflict, text-heavy narratives, virtuosity, or rigid theatrical structures

  • house our work in inclusive, anti-oppressive spaces that model social ideals

  • maintain a warm and welcoming atmosphere through form and design, avoiding the elite or pretentious and embracing the low-fi, the recognisable, the imperfect, and the genuine.

  • value friendship, and strive to deepen connections and understandings amongst diverse team members.
